30′ HECATE JET
GENRAL ARRANGEMENT

SPECIFICATIONS
Inspirationally derived from the unique requirements of running in the remote Haida Gwaii / Queen Charolette Islands off the coast of northern British Columbia, Canada. The Hecate Jet is a solid performer in big ocean water, yet still capable of running shallow shoals and rivers. It supports a large cabin and ample fishing room. The engine forward configuration enables maximum room to fight fish and the integrated transom fish lockers provide easily maintained storage for the day’s catch. Equipped with a reversing ZF transmission and an integrated rake kit, any debris are easily cleared with the ability to back flush and clear the waterjet. Built for extended commercial use this vessel’s construction and characteristics enable it to be equally at home in a 6-pack charter or commercial application such as a crew boat or dive boat.
To top it all off this large, highly capable, performer boasts superior efficiency and economy. Utilizing the Yanmar 440 common rail diesel engine and the brand-new Hamilton Jet HJX27 waterjet this vessel sips fuel with a cruise fuel burn of about 12-14 gallons per hour. Not bad for a 30′ boat!

Hecate Strait (/ˈhɛkɪt/; Haida language: K̲andaliig̲wii, also siigaay which means simply “ocean”) is a wide but shallow strait between Haida Gwaii (formerly the Queen Charlotte Islands) and the mainland of British Columbia, Canada. It merges with Queen Charlotte Sound to the south and Dixon Entrance to the north. About 140 kilometres (87 mi) wide at its southern end, Hecate Strait narrows in the north to about 48 kilometres (30 mi). It is about 260 kilometres (160 mi) in length.
Hecate Strait, because it is so shallow, is especially susceptible to storms and violent weather. The Haida crossed the Hecate Strait to the mainland to plunder coastal villages to take slaves and booty. Only the Haida knew the real nature of the Strait’s workings, and so could not be followed by the tribes of the mainland. Hecate Strait, therefore, was one of the main defenses of the Haida people from attack.
Hecate Strait was named by Captain George Henry Richards in 1861 or 1862 after his surveying vessel, HMS Hecate.
